SAINT LEONARD D’ASTON. Céline Plourde, a well-known pharmacist in the region, was made an honorary lieutenant colonel of the 12e Canadian Armored Regiment from Trois-Rivières.
Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Plourde is the first woman to receive the title of Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel within the 12th centurye Canadian Armored Regiment in Trois-Rivières. She succeeds the outgoing honorary lieutenant colonel Michel Deveault.
In Canada, the tradition of appointing honorary regimental officers goes back more than a century. This tradition means that former officers in the Canadian Armed Forces or, as in the case of Ms Plourde, committed citizens who have distinguished themselves both in their field and in their community, can receive this honorary designation.
“This honorable mention in a three-year tenure comes at a time and age in my life when things are slowing down for others. I feel fulfilled life is good for me Really! Ms Plourde has been a pharmacist for almost 50 years. She has been a pharmacy owner in Saint-Léonard-d’Aston for almost four decades and has made a name for herself at provincial, national and international levels thanks to her innovative, patient-centric practice.
Céline Plourde is a dedicated person, passionate about her job and striving to improve work processes. She created two characters for a program to prevent accidental poisoning in kindergarten children in 1987.
In 1984 she initiated the Plourde Despins program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMSS) at the University of Sherbrooke (UdeS). The latter allows residents in family medicine or emergency medicine to complete an internship in the community pharmacy in the twelve external clinical teaching units of the FMSS of the University of Sherbrooke, distributed in Quebec and New Brunswick.
In 1987 she received the Louis Hébert Prize, the most prestigious award of the Order of Pharmacists of Quebec, and in 2017 she was made an honorary member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada for the first time. to a pharmacist in Canada. In the same year she also received the title of Fellow of the Order of Pharmacists of Quebec (OPQ).
