Toronto – Toys “R” Us will open nine new stores in the former locations of the defunct Bed Bath & Beyond brand, in addition to two new Babies “R” Us stores.

In a press release, Putman Investments’ Doug Putman said his company acquired the majority of Bed Bath & Beyond locations across Canada after the retailer ceased operations north of the border.

Putman announced earlier this month that it would be opening an all-new homewares retailer called Rooms + Spaces at 21 former Bed Bath & Beyond and Buybuy Baby locations.

Putman announced Wednesday that the new Rooms + Spaces will also house Toys “R” Us stores located directly at their locations.

The expansion brings the total number of Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores nationwide to 107.

Seven of the new stores will be in Alberta and British Columbia, with the others located in Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. They should be open in summer or October.
