CF Montreal wins at home

CF Montreal beat Orlando City FC 2-0 at the Stade Saputo on Saturday night

This is the Montreal team’s fourth straight win in all competitions.

However, the locals were overtaken by their opponent on shots on goal. Orlando led 13 shots on target against seven for CF Montreal.

The first goal of the game came in the 62nd minute when Orlando’s Robin Jansson deflected an Aaron Herrera shot into his own half.

Romell Quioto returned four minutes later when he accepted Aaron Herrera’s superb pass to lead Hernan Losada’s men to victory.

The Impact also paid tribute to their former captain Patrice Bernier at half-time. The man, who wore the Montreal Impact colors from 2012 to 2017, was inducted into the Wall of Fame at Saputo Stadium. Bernier became the fifth player to receive this honor, after Mauro Biello, Nevio Pizzolitto, Gabriel Gervais and Greg Sutton.

Montreal will play its next two games against Toronto FC. The first duel will take place on Tuesday, May 9th at 7pm at BMO Field as part of the Canadian Championship Quarterfinals. The two teams meet on Saturday 13 May at Saputo Stadium for a pre-season MLS game.
