Quite a reward for Arnaud Desjardins

The Université Laval Rouge et Or recognized its most deserving student athletes during its 72nd annual gala on Wednesday night, and it was quarterback Arnaud Desjardins who hosted the evening.

The 23-year-old was named Student Athlete of the Year and also excelled in the men’s team sport category. Desjardins led the University of Quebec football team to victory at the 2022 Vanier Cup.

Anyone playing a third season in a Rouge et Or jersey will also benefit from a Canadian Football League internship with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in May. Last year he was named to the Quebec Student Sports Network Offensive All-Star Team and U-Sports First All-Star Team.

Track and field and cross-country specialist Jessy Lacourse won almost everything in the women’s category. Like Desjardins, she was named Student Athlete of the Year and also received awards in the individual sport category.

Jean-William Rouleau, Desjardin’s teammate on the football team, received the Jean-Marie de Koninck Prize for Academic Merit. The civil engineering student maintained a perfect average of 4.33 for the fourth straight year.

Two swimmers, Danika Ethier and David Pouliot, won the Rookie of the Year title.
