Only national airline committed to having its entire customer service team based in Canada

TORONTO, April 17, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Rogers Communications Inc. today announced the repatriation of hundreds of Shaw jobs to Canada as part of its commitment to invest in an all-Canadian customer service team.

Jobs currently located outside of Canada will be relocated to British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba to ensure that every telephone call and online interaction with members of the combined company’s customer base is handled by Canadian-based customer solutions specialists.

Rogers’ historic merger with Shaw was completed on April 3, 2023, and the repatriation of jobs to Canada has already begun. Indeed, customer service positions will be phased back by Canada Day and all other related positions will be moved domestically by Q3 2023. In 2020, Rogers became the only national telecom operator with service providers to have all call centers located in Canada and remains the only national operator to commit to having its entire customer service team work domestically.

In addition to bringing hundreds of jobs back to Canada, Rogers plans to hire 1,000 customer service specialists nationwide.

Rogers is also committed to investing $6.5 billion over the next 5 years as part of its merger with Shaw to bring fast, reliable networks to more communities in western Canada. This includes modernizing our 5G network and expanding its reach to over 300 communities and along country roads. These investments are expected to contribute over $7 billion to the region’s GDP and create thousands of jobs over the next 5 years.

Calgary is the combined company’s new western Canada headquarters.
