Lack of formula milk: “It scares me,” testifies a mother

Contrary to what Health Canada says, powdered milk, also known as “formula milk,” is still rare, a completely exhausting and excruciating situation, according to one young mother.

“It really scares me. I have one spare cane left and I don’t know what to do next,” Nevena Koltchagova, mother of an 8-month-old baby, told QUB radio.

However, in a statement released on March 21, Health Canada said that “hypoallergenic infant formula shortages have been largely reduced, and supplies are relatively stable and meeting needs.”

Nevena Koltchagova herself works in a pharmacy in Verdun. Every day she tries to order more formula, but it’s just impossible.

“It is always written that the product is temporarily sold out. I check every day. With every order that comes in, I live in hope,” she said at the microphone of Philippe-Vincent Foisy.

The latter therefore has to travel several kilometers every week to replenish its milk supply.

In addition m.Me Kolchagova mentioned that not only baby food is in short supply. The pharmacy where she works is missing many baby products. She hasn’t seen painkillers for babies on the shelves for several weeks.

A race against time

The product is so rare that parents have decided not to seek mutual help from the various Internet groups.

“There is so little milk left that we can’t do anything else,” explains Nevena Koltchagova.

In the statement released last week, Health Canada also said it would “continue to do everything in our power to improve the situation and provide families with the infant formula they need.”

Health Canada does not currently grant interviews on this topic.
