The City of Winnipeg has announced that a major snow removal operation is underway. However, it stipulates that the operation is carried out according to a road priority system.
According to Ken Allen, communications coordinator for the City of Winnipeg Department of Public Works, nearly 200 snow removal machines are deployed to clear the main and bus lanes, again based on established P1 and P2 priorities.
- Priority 1: regional roads or arterial roads and adjacent sidewalks and active traffic routes;
- Priority 2: bus lines, collecting roads and adjacent sidewalks and active traffic routes.
” We’ll start with the Priority 1 and Priority 2 roads first. These are the roads where 80% of traffic is stationary at high speeds. »
The city would like to remind residents that they can report roads missed due to snow removal through their website (New window).
