Montreal Canadiens jewel Sean Farrell could have played his last varsity game on Friday in Bridgeport. And we can’t say his season at Harvard ended on a high note.

Farrell and the Crimson suffered a humiliating 8-1 loss to the Ohio State University Buckeyes in the NCAA Championship regional semifinals.

The other CH hope in that clash, goalkeeper Jakob Dobes, had far busier games between the Buckeyes posts. He signed the win by making 21 saves. Ohio State’s next opponent will be the winner of the duel between the Merrimack University Warriors and the Quinnipiac University Bobcats.

Farrell also set the table for his only goal, scored by John Farinacci in the massive attack.

Harvard was also eliminated by Colgate University in the final of the ECAC conference last week.

This means that, like Jordan Harris last season, Farrell could sign his entry contract and help the Habs in the final games of the regular schedule.

The 21-year-old athlete, a fourth-round pick in 2020, would be a great addition to the CH attack. Known for his offensive instincts and aggressiveness, the winger is 5’7″ and 175lbs and is one of 10 finalists for the Hobey-Baker Trophy.

He has 20 goals and 53 points in 34 games this season, his second at Harvard. He could also decide to continue his university career if he so desires.

General manager Kent Hughes commented on the case during his visit to The Athletic podcast “Have You Back”Start of the week.

“Once his season is over we will definitely call him and explore. We would like to have him with us, but he has one more year of school. He can choose to do it, it’s up to him. We will have these discussions with him and his agent.”
