CF Montreal begins their journey to the Canadian Championship with a clash against Vaughan SC from League1 Ontario (L1O).

That was the result of Tuesday’s Canada Soccer draw. The preliminary round matches, including those of CF Montreal, will take place on April 18th, 19th or 20th. The Belle Province team is looking for a sixth title in this competition.
The Vaughan SC, the defending champions of the L1O, will enter this tournament for the second time to receive the Coupe des Voyageurs.
First Quebec Soccer League champions FC Laval will be there for the first time, as will TSS Rovers FC (League1 British Columbia) and Vancouver FC (Canadian Premier League).
Of the 14 teams taking part, only Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC – last year’s champions and runners-up respectively – are byes in the first round. The Toronto team will also await the result of the match involving their Montreal rivals to learn the identity of their opponents in the quarterfinals.
