The Canadian | Denis Gurianov is absent from training to regain his visa

(Brossard) Forward Denis Gurianov missed practice with the Montreal Canadiens on Friday while he was in Ottawa to collect his visa.

Gurianov was acquired by the Dallas Stars for Evgenii Dadonov on February 26. The 25-year-old Russian has one goal and one assist in his first six games for the Habs.

The Canadian has lost his last five games (0-3-2). He will host the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Center on Saturday night.

Also, defender Justin Barron and forward Jake Evans ran alone in front of their teammates at the Bell Sports Complex.

Barron has missed the last four games for the Canadiens with what appears to be a shoulder injury. He briefly retired to the locker room after suffering a hit from Carl Grundstrom in the first period of the Canadiens’ eventual 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on March 2.

For his part, Evans has not played against the New York Islanders since Jan. 14. The Habs had announced a few days later that he would remain on the sidelines for a period of 8 to 10 weeks.

In 43 games this season, Evans has two goals and nine assists.
