The Toyota RAV4 continues to be the best-selling vehicle in Canada, excluding full-size trucks.
This compact SUV enters the 2023 model year with a wide range of trim levels, powertrains and optional packages detailed here.
Let’s start by looking at regular RAV4 models, which are equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.
petrol models
The entry-level RAV4 in 2024 is the LE AWD model, priced at $35,734. As the name suggests, this version (and all others) of the RAV4 benefits from an all-wheel drive system that can connect the rear axle to the engine if slip is detected. The LE also comes with things like Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic high beam, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 10-year subscription to Safety Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 7″ screen in the instrument cluster, heated front seats and 17″ steel wheels with hubcaps.
$39,294 XLE AWD trim adds smart key entry system with push-button start, power liftgate, 3-year subscription to Remote Connect services, 8-way power driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, auto up/down on all windows, dual -Zone climate control, luggage compartment cover, rain-sensing wipers, power sunroof, black roof rails, rubber wheels, 17-inch alloy and chrome accents on the LED headlights.
The XLE can also be upgraded to a $2,040 Premium package that adds SofTex upholstery, driver’s seat memory, ignition kill switch, luggage net and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The $42,994 RAV4 Trail is a more rugged version that shares most of the features of the XLE with the premium package, with a few exceptions. In fact, the RAV4 Trail trades the XLE Premium’s immobilizer and memory seat for a wireless charging station and cargo space organizer. Unique features of the Trail include bridge-style roof rails, 19-inch black painted alloy wheels and the dynamic torque vectoring all-wheel drive system it shares with the Limited.
Speaking of which, the top trim level of the 2023 RAV4 is the Limited at $47,194. This version includes all the features of the XLE Premium plus a 360 degree camera system, parking sensors, autonomous braking for rear cross traffic alert, cell phone charging, hands-free power tailgate, 10.5″ infotainment screen with 3-year Drive Connect subscription , JBL sound system with 11 speakers, a 12.3-inch screen in the instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, power passenger seat, digital rear-view mirror with HomeLink, cargo organizer, chrome door handles, exterior mirrors heated with flashlights and various LED headlights.
hybrid versions
The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is also offered with a hybrid powertrain that uses the same gasoline engine combined with two electric motors to deliver 219 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. Since one of the motors is located on the rear axle, the all-wheel drive of these models has no mechanical connection between the two axles.
The hybrid LE costs $37,794 and shares most of its features with the gas-powered LE, with the exception of 17-inch alloy wheels, a 4-way adjustable passenger seat, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, black-painted roof rails, and an ECO mode .
The XLE Hybrid ($40,934) follows the same pattern, offering the same features as its petrol counterpart with the exception of option packages. In addition to the XLE Premium package ($2,040), which features 18-inch wheels and LED fog lights, the RAV4 XLE Hybrid can be ordered with the Woodland package ($2,190). This package includes a 120-volt power outlet, Woodland-branded floor mats and cargo bed liner, cargo organizer, deck-style roof rails, TRD off-road suspension and unique 18-inch bronze painted wheels.
The $42,734 SE Hybrid shares features with the XLE, except for a sport suspension, black 18-inch wheels, and different LED headlights.
The $45,634 XSE hybrid version offers the same features as the SE, plus the JBL audio system, a 10.5-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch dash display, edge, cloth, and SofTex upholstery, a digital rear-view mirror with HomeLink, a cargo organizer and luggage net, and vertical LED lights. A $2,560 tech package includes 360-degree cameras, parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert with brakes, wireless charging, a hands-free tailgate, the 10.5-inch infotainment system, and driver seat memory.
Finally, for $48,794, the Limited Hybrid gets the same features as the regular Limited, except for 18-inch wheels and LED fog lights.
The RAV4 Prime
Toyota RAV4 Prime 2023 is the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV, equipped with a larger battery that allows it to travel up to 68 kilometers in electric mode and has a power of 302 hp. The RAV4 Prime is offered in two versions:
The SE starts at $52,894 and includes pretty much the same features as the mid-range gasoline and hybrid models, like a power liftgate, 8-inch infotainment screen, power driver’s seat, heated steering wheel, chrome roof rails, and 18-inch Wheels .
The upper XSE trim ($57,734) offers wireless charging, a larger in-dash screen, SofTex upholstery with heated rear seats, a digital rearview mirror with HomeLink, and 19-inch wheels. A $5,390 technology package also features Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with braking, 360-degree display, hands-free liftgate, 120-volt power outlet, JBL audio system, steering gear paddle shifters, ventilated front seats and head-up display, and panoramic roof .
