At the FLA Live Arena, the Florida Panthers came from behind twice, eventually beating the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 in overtime.
For the Canadiens, it was the worst-case scenario in terms of the draft lottery: the Ducks are improving their chances in the Connor Bedard race and the Panthers are nearing the playoffs. Remember that the CH holds the election of the 1st round in 2024 of the creation of Sunrise.
It was Carter Verhaeghe who decided the debate with his 30th goal of the season in overtime. Matthew Tkachuk scored his 50th assist of the season in the win.
The Ducks had started the game well, however, as Mason McTavish and Frank Vatrano hit the bull’s eye in the first period. However, brothers Eric and Marc Staal allowed the Panthers to level the game in the second half.
Dmitry Kulikov gave priority back to the Ducks, but a hit by Ryan Lomberg sent everyone into overtime.
A stop at Extremis with the skate of… Matthew Tkachuk!? –
Jake DeBrusk and the Bruins aren’t slowing down
Forward Jake DeBrusk moved the ropes again and the Boston Bruins earned a fourth straight win by defeating the Ottawa Senators 3-1 at the TD Garden on Monday afternoon.
DeBrusk was playing his second game since missing action for more than a month due to a lower body injury. After scoring a goal and an assist against the New York Islanders on Saturday, the 26-year-old hockey player became the first to score against the Sens.
In the first half, DeBrusk charged into the net and used his own return throw to beat goaltender Kevin Mandolese. He has 33 points in 38 games this season.
However, Claude Giroux brought everyone back on an equal footing before the end of the original commitment.
It was David Pastrnak’s success that finally made the difference. The sniper played on the power play in the second period and scored his 40th goal in 2022-2023. This is the second straight season he has achieved that milestone, making it the first Bruins representative to have accomplished the feat since Cam Neely in 1990-91.
Pastrnak’s counterattack didn’t stay at 40 for long as he completed the goal in the third period. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy also assisted on all of his goals.
In front of the winning cage, Linus Ullmark fended off 30 pucks and signed his fourth straight win. Mandolese had to fire 32 shots in the meantime. The Quebecer played the second game of his career in the National League.
