VinFast has announced plans to combine its US and Canadian operations to increase efficiency. The new VinFast North America entity will be based at VinFast’s current US headquarters in Los Angeles.
rapid growth
Although VinFast was only founded in 2017, the manufacturer is already enjoying great success in Asia. This is partly due to VinFast’s abundance of resources. VinFast is part of Vingroup, a multi-billion dollar conglomerate with subsidiaries in commercial real estate, technology, healthcare and even education. VinFast currently offers two electric vehicles in Canada, the VF8 and the VF9. These two four-wheel drive SUVs priced at $64,990 for the VF8 and $79,990 for the VF9 (including the battery). The VF8 is powered by an 87kWh battery that produces between 348 and 402 horsepower depending on whether you go for the Eco or Plus version.
The VF8 seats 5 people and has a range of 292 miles, according to VinFast. The VF9, larger and suitable for 7 people, is equipped with a 123 kWh battery. The VF9 has up to 435 km of autonomy and develops 402 hp. The VF6 and VF7 models are also planned for next year. These two models will be smaller SUVs that will compete with the Tesla Model Y and VW ID.4 models.
