Pieces of wood in chicken nuggets

Wood in chicken nuggets? Yes, you read it right! Health Canada recently ordered the recall of St-Hubert and Cavalier chicken nuggets after pieces of wood were found inside.

Chicken and Crunchy Breadcrumbs: The recipe for chicken croquettes seems simple. However, Health Canada has discovered another ingredient in St Hubert and Cavalier chicken breast croquettes that shouldn’t belong on our plates: wood.

The federal agency then ordered the recall of the said snacks, which had been sold in Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec. The recall specifically concerns chicken breast croquettes in the 4 kg format for the Cavalier brand and 600 g for the St-Hubert brand.

“The affected products may not be used, sold, served or distributed”, specifies Health Canada.

Here are the affected products:

  • Cavalier – Chicken Breast Nuggets 4 kg (packed on 09/09/2022, 14/11/2022 or 24/11/2022)
  • St-Hubert – Chicken Breast Croquettes 600g (Best before March 12 or July 11, 2024) – UPC: 0 66701 01109 7

If you have them at home, it is advisable to return them to the stores where they were bought.
