TORONTO — The four-day workweek seems to be gaining ground at Canadian companies, a new report shows, as employers continue to adjust working hours and working conditions in the post-pandemic environment.
According to a survey by human resource consulting firm Robert Half, 91% of executives surveyed said they support a four-day workweek for their team.
The majority of executives also predict that their company will transition to a shorter work week over the next five years.
The survey also found that nearly three-quarters of workers would be happy to work four 10-hour days in exchange for one extra day off per week.
Mike Shekhtman, senior regional manager at Robert Half, noted that a shorter work week could help with hiring and retention.
He believes that giving workers a four-day work week and the autonomy to set their own schedule could also boost morale and productivity.
