Calgary World Cup | Canada wins three medals in the freestyle ski halfpipe

(Calgary) Canadians Brendan Mackay and Simon d’Artois won the silver and bronze medals respectively in the halfpipe at the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in Calgary on Thursday.


Mackay finished the event with a score of 94.50 while d’Artois accumulated 93.00 points.

Finn Jon Sallinen stood on the top step of the podium with 96.00 points.

Rachael Karker from Canada won the women’s silver medal with 89.00.

China’s Eileen Gu won the event with 95.00 points while America’s Hanna Faulhaber took the bronze medal (77.25).

Gu did not compete in the first World Cup of the season, held in Copper Mountain, Colorado in December. Karker had triumphed.

Born in the United States, Gu rose to international fame at the Beijing Olympics, where she won gold in halfpipe and long jump, and a silver medal in slopestyle.

Competition resumes Saturday in Calgary for the third of four World Cups this season.
