Tony Wakeham takes part in the Progressive Conservative Party leadership race

Stephenville-Port au Port MP Tony Wakeham is running for leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. He announced it in Saint-Jean late Tuesday afternoon.

He took the opportunity to reveal his catchphrase; The right manager at the right time (Right leader, right time).

The people of the province deserve better and I intend to lead the PC party [pendant la campagne électorale] and form the next government of Newfoundland and Labradorhe said in front of many supporters.

My vision is simple: that Newfoundland and Labrador are healthy, that life is affordable, that healthcare is accessible and that no opportunity and no one is left behind.

Tony Wakeham’s announcement comes shortly after the announcement of interim leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, David Brazil. This last announced on Monday that he would not be taking part in the race.

David Brazil told reporters that he ultimately decided not to take the risk for health reasons.

He also took part in the launch of Tony Wakeham’s campaign, as did other members of his faction.
