(Montreal) The 140 members of the Institut de Tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Quebec-CSN (SEEITHQ-CSN) teachers’ union will go on strike Monday, citing “the lack of sufficient progress” at the negotiating table.
In a statement released on Sunday, the union said it would protest in front of the institute on Monday afternoon.
Last November, union members voted 97% in favor of an eight-day strike mandate, after negotiations that had dragged on since March 2021. two collective bargaining negotiations in less than two years.
Without a collective agreement since March 2020, employees are demanding wages that are adjusted to their growing workload. They also regret the nearly 10-year delay in obtaining employment.
In 2019, ITHQ became a government agency outside the civil service. SEEITHQ-CSN therefore wants the collective agreement to be based on that of provincial faculty and not that of civil servants.
