Does the Canadian season still make sense? Secure. There are still 41 games to play, so exactly half the way. Also, there are still important dates in the lot that will mark this second half of the 2022-2023 season for all the right reasons. Or maybe not.
January 12
That’s the date of the team’s next game, which will be presented at the Bell Center against the Nashville Predators. This date will allow the Canadian to start the second half of the season, a crucial moment when the team leaders are used to looking at the standings to decide what to do next. On this topic, the Canadian is on 27e Rank at the time of writing, suggesting the odds of a playoff spot are now like a Pixar movie: fantasy. At this time, the press box at the Bell Center is also getting crowded, as more and more scouts will be settling there in the coming weeks. Finally, and at the very least, this evening will allow fans to applaud someone, in this case PK Subban, who the organization will honor for all the right reasons.
January 24th
Can you believe that day is the Canadian’s first game of the season against the Boston Bruins? uh yeah In the good old days of 21 clubs, CH and Bruins were already in at least a fourth all-around by this time at the end of January. But due to the uncertainties of the “new” NHL calendar, that day at the Bell Center we will finally be able to see the best team in the 2022-2023 NHL for the first time. It’s far from a good deal, and we’ll add that maintaining a rivalry with a rival we don’t see anymore is quite complicated.
1ah February
Beginning of the Canadians’ farewell week, with the next game being played only on Super Bowl weekend, February 11th. Bad tongues might say that Canadians don’t need a week off as some of their players are used to taking the day off most nights anyway, but we won’t go there.
14th of February
This Valentine’s Day why not invite your loved one to the Bell Center for a night against the Chicago Blackhawks that promises to be nothing short of magical. A popular resale site was offering tickets to the Bell Center Heights for the modest sum of $60 Tuesday afternoon, but that amount could drop below $20 that same morning, according to our estimates.
3 March
The mother of all dates. Today at 15:00 is the National Hockey League’s trading close for this season. We will not waste time here and list all potential candidates for a move. There are too many of them, so let’s save time by only naming those who, in our humble opinion, are likely the untouchables: Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Kirby Dach. That’s pretty much it. Others may live in fear and apprehension (perhaps excitement too) until that date, staring at the screen of their phone.
April 13th, date of last game
Last but not least ! Then that misery ends and we can get down to business: non-stop abacus simulations, at least three times a day, until the day of the real lottery. Note that some have started this important exercise a few days ago as it is never too early.
