NFL: Nathan Rourke changes his mind

Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke is still not done showing off his talent to NFL teams.

On Monday, TSN reported that the 24-year-old was returning to Canada after playing for the Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars and Denver Broncos in recent weeks.

The center finally completed a training session in front of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday. He will also have the opportunity to serve sessions for the Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals. Rourke will be meeting with those teams next week.

The Victoria native is therefore very prominent with our neighbors to the south, having been dominant in his first season as a starter for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Despite missing several games with a foot injury, he had 3,349 yards and 25 touchdowns in 10 games. Rourke also completed 78.7% of his passing attempts, which is a record in the Canadian league.

The quarterback has spent the last two seasons in the CFL after playing three seasons in the NCAA, most notably with the Ohio Bobcats.

“I don’t know how many people know this, but I never had a real opportunity in the NFL, not as a quarterback,” Rourke said after the Lions were eliminated last November.

“It’s something I wanted. I wanted to at least try. I’m happy to have this opportunity and see where it will take me.”

“If I have a chance there, all the better. I have something good here though [au Canada] and I don’t mind coming back at all. [Je serais] actually very excited!”
