The Laval Rocket forward and CH hope Xavier Simoneau, hit in the face by a stick, left Friday night’s game on a stretcher at Place Bell.
Check out the footage in the main video.
Simoneau was in the middle of a pile of players near the Belleville Senators net when he received the hit midway through the second period.
Immediately, the 22-year-old put his face in his hands and tried to retreat to the bench before giving up the idea with a visible effort at half-time.
Eventually, he was placed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital from the rink.
As for the game itself, the Rocket ended up losing 2-1 in the shootout.
Despite two power plays in the third period, Rocket failed to find the back of the net. A shootout was necessary to settle the debate.
Egor Sokolov beat Kevin Poulin on penalties to give the visitors victory. Poulin finished the game with 32 saves. His counterpart, Sogaard, got another one.
The two teams will face off again on Saturday afternoon in Laval.
