Jacynthe Côté will lead the Royal Bank board

(Toronto) The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) announces that Jacynthe Côté will become Chair of its Board of Directors next year.


The institution said that M.me Côté would assume the role upon her re-election as an independent director at the Royal Bank’s annual meeting on 5 April 2023.

Kathleen Taylor, who has served as chair since 2014, will retire.

Jacynthe Côté, who has a degree in chemistry from Laval University, has been RBC’s independent director since 2014. She has been a member of various committees and has chaired the Governance Committee since 2018.

She is the first woman to serve on Hydro-Québec’s board of directors. The state-owned company announced on Friday that Msme Côté recently told the Quebec government that she would not seek a second term after the one that ends in May.

Jacynthe Côté is former President and CEO of Rio Tinto Alcan. She is also a board member of Finning International and Transcontinental.
