It appears thatElectrify Canada finally took the call after our complaints about non-functioning devices. In fact, the June 29th, we had mentioned terminals that had been installed in the Sherbrooke area for almost two years and were still not operational. Our attempts to contact the company and even its PR department for this purpose have gotten us nowhere. However, Electrify Canada appears to have woken up, with the Sherbrooke terminals installed in the Plateau Saint-Joseph sector now operational.
It was a communications manager for Electrify Canada in Quebec, Ms. Agathe Maillard, who immediately contacted us to follow up on our article on the subject last June. Ms. Maillard explained to us at the time that if the terminals weren’t working, it was more due to wait times associated with the city of Sherbrooke.
In a press release earlier this week, Electrify Canada informed us that the ultra-fast (150-kilowatt capacity) and super-fast (350-kilowatt capacity) charging stations in the Sherbrooke area are indeed operational. The company also mentioned that these terminals, located in Canadian Tire’s parking lot, are covered with a roof to facilitate their use in inclement weather. They would also come with Plug&Charge technology, which would allow a user who is not a member of Electrify Canada to first connect and then open an account while the vehicle is being refueled. In particular, this can be done warm in the vehicle and paid for at the end of the charging cycle.
Complaints taken seriously
During the conversation, Ms. Ménard explained to us that Electrify Canada takes faulty or non-functioning charging station situations in the country very seriously. In response to our complaint about the pathetic French speaking customer service during our experience, she assured us that steps were being taken to improve the quality of French speaking customer service through her 24 hour service and across the country.
Remember, Electrify Canada came under scrutiny earlier this year due to faulty terminals, non-functioning terminals, difficulties with payment methods, and long and incomplete customer service.
Review of RPM
It’s good to see that Electrify Canada is finally taking customer complaints seriously across its network. The fact that Sherbrooke terminals are finally operational is a sign of the company’s determination to move things in the right direction. However, we must test these terminals ourselves and live the customer experience before deciding on their effectiveness. We will contact you with all the details.
If we want motorists to switch to electric cars, all charging station networks must be reliable and above all functional!
