The Trois-Rivières Lions don’t know how to lose anymore and even a head coach change didn’t bother them as they defeated the Utah Grizzlies 6-4 on Friday night at the Maverik Center.
General manager Marc-André Bergeron, who has served since Éric Bélanger stepped down earlier this week, is quickly learning the basics of his new job. On the road, the Lions meet the Grizzlies three times in as many days.

That doesn’t intimidate the ECHL school club, the Montreal Canadiens, who won for the fifth consecutive year. John Parker-Jones contributed to the day’s win with two goals and an assist.
The 6ft 7 behemoth, who obviously likes forward position despite being a trained defender, had on target in his fourth straight game. Parker-Jones captured a puck in the top slot to make it 5-2 with a few minutes left in regulation.
The Lions scared themselves by allowing the local favorites two goals afterwards, but Nicolas Larivière’s success in an empty net confirmed Trois-Rivières’ victory. The latter had also shaken the ropes in the second skirmish.
Cédric Montminy and Anthony Beauregard were the visitors’ other scorers. Goalkeeper Joe Vrbetic blocked 27 shots to add the win to his record.
