The rocket cannot start a fruitful streak

The Laval Rocket failed again in their attempt to secure a second straight win at the Place Bell on Wednesday, instead going down 3-2 to the Abbotsford Canucks.

Since the start of the season, head coach Jean-François Houle’s side have not won two games in a row.

The crowd favorites gave up all their goals in the second period against the Canucks, who they had defeated 4-2 a week earlier. Goalkeeper Cayden Primeau will hardly have to blame himself, however, he had three penalties in 33 shots.

From the 26th second of the middle section, Guillaume Brisebois completed an impressive tic-tac-toe in a three-on-two descent to open the gate.

For his part, Will Lockwood used a numerical advantage to deflect a throw from Christian Wolanin and fooled Primeau’s vigilance. Eventually, Lane Pederson slipped between the Rocket defenders and came alone in front of the home team’s goalie, he didn’t let such an opportunity pass.

The rocket responded first once in the second period. Justin Barron used a power play to shake the ropes with a powerful slap shot.

Then, in the third period, Peter Abbandonato gave his side some hope of playing less than five minutes, but to no avail.

The Rocket will now embark on a five-game road trip, beginning Friday with two games in two nights against the Belleville Senators.

The Montreal Canadiens school club is not returning to Place Bell until December 9th.
