His statement about the show Rosemary Barton Live from CBC comes as provincial and territorial health ministers are preparing for a meeting in Vancouver in this week.

Mr Dix recalled that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had said health transfers would increase once the pandemic was over.

But, Dix says, with most restrictions lifted but the healthcare system remaining fragile, it falls to Ottawa to tackle the transfer case.

However, says Adrian Dix, the federal government has shown no willingness to get Justin Trudeau to sit down with provincial and territorial ministerial heads to discuss an increase in funding.

” The Prime Minister is not a potted plant. He can defend his point of view […]but there must be a meeting. »

Provincial and territorial ministers are asking Ottawa to increase government health transfers from 22% to 35%.

Adrian Dix specifies that before every meeting between Mr Trudeau and the Prime Ministers, Ottawa has put on the table preconditions that the Canadians do not want.

The Canada Health Transfer is the largest provincial and territorial government transfer. This summer, the federal government added $2 billion, on top of the $45.2 billion the provinces and territories will receive by the end of the year.

At an interview CBCGerman Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos struck a more conciliatory tone this week by referring to himself as a allies of the provinces.

He wishes concrete and tangible results but that government must focus on the substance of the results before discussing the means of achieving them.

During his interview on Sunday, Adrian Dix hailed Minister Duclos’ praise but continued to call for a meeting with Justin Trudeau.
