Quebec 2022: Almost a quarter of registered voters voted in advance | Elections Quebec 2022

The participation rate at the early polling stations (BVA) was 24.44% this year. Of the 6.29 million registered voters, 1.54 million people cast their ballots in the ballot box. This has been unthinkable since at least 1998.

This record quota includes seven of eight election days scheduled for this year by Élections Québeci.e. two days of pre-elections (September 25 and 26) and five days of voting in the Returning Officer’s office (September 23, 24, 27, 28 and 29).

The eighth and final day of voting will take place on Monday 3 October. The eagerly awaited results will be announced in the evening.

The harbingers of the popularity of voting BVA didn’t lie. On the morning of September 26th, i.e. after the first day of the pre-election, the participation rate was already 12.57%. and The next day it approached 23%.

Special feature: 8 of the 10 equestrian centers where this rate is highest this year are in the Capitale-Nationale and in the Chaudière-Appalaches, including Louis-Hébert, who tops the list with 41.09%.

In contrast, turnout was lowest in Ungava: only 9.34% of voters at this North-du-Québec ranch voted between September 23 and 29.

The returning officer is now preparing for October 3rd. He is also still seeking electoral staff in seven Ridings, namely Mégantic, Mont-Royal-Outremont, D’Arcy-McGee, L’Assomption, Beauharnois, Hull and Pontiac.
