Canadian hope: Luke Tuch, the truck

“He hits a lot harder than me. It hits like a truck.”

The Canadian’s visit to Buffalo earlier this week made it possible to hear from Luke Tuch. The Canadiens’ pick for the 2020 second round, the Boston University Terriers forward is the younger brother of Sabers right winger Alex.

“I had the opportunity to see a few games. Luke plays very well. He seems to have added some tempo to his game, which allows him to be a little more efficient in attack,” noted the 26-year-old American.

At the age of 20, the younger brother Tuch started his third season in the ranks of the university. On Friday night, he was his team’s only scorer in a 2-1 loss to the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. It was his third goal of the season.

“He suffered an injury this summer that kept him out of the World Junior Championships. He had to do rehab over the summer, but came to the camp in very good physical condition. I’m very proud of him,” said the big brother, who made the leap to the pros after two seasons at Boston College, the great rival of the terriers.

At the end of this campaign, will Luke do the same or will he rather finish his studies in Arts and Sciences?

“I have no idea of his plans. He still has a long season ahead of him. In my family we live day by day. I’m still looking forward to seeing what the future holds for him.”

At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Luke Tuch definitely has the physical maturity to make the jump.
