“Drouin, it’s worrying” – TVA Sports

Jonathan Drouin has only played two preseason games so far.

A situation that worries his former teammate Mathieu Perreault.

“If he doesn’t play the next game, he could be in trouble. Maybe a guy needs to be put on waiver at some point. On his part, it can be a little unsettling. I wish that he has one more match to present his case. Two games out of seven isn’t much,” the former Canadiens forward said in his column on Friday’s show La poche bleue le midi, aired on TVA Sports.

“Drouin still fascinates me a bit,” added Perreault. I would like to see him in the next game so he can show off, especially on the power play. I don’t remember seeing him on the ice much throughout camp.”

Xhekaj and Slafkovsky deserve to stay in Montreal

Meanwhile, Perreault believes youngsters Arber Xhekaj and Juraj Slafkovsky deserve to start the season in Montreal.

“Xhekaj has done enough to stay, that’s for sure. I like that he imposes his authority on the ice. His presence can be felt. It disturbs the opponent. I love seeing that. It stays with me. You have to have a guy like him in training.”

The former player also praised the first overall pick in the last draft.

“I think it’s good since the beginning of the camp. He is tall and his physical strength is impressive for his age. Few 18-year-old players can assert themselves physically like Slafkovsky. He has special qualities. I’ve loved him since camp started. I see him on the team. He brings something different to Canadians. We’re going to love him in Montreal.”

To make the Slovak look even better, Perreault advises putting more tape on her palette.

“It has a sticky effect on the puck. That’s the advice I would give him. It would help him with his handling of the puck. I’ll be texting David Savard to tell him!”
