The twenty-third edition of the Marathon de Québec, held this Sunday, October 2, in the city of Quebec, a town on the Saint-Laurent River in the essentially French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec, was won by the Kenyan David Mutai and the Canadian Nadia Bolduc.

The city of Quebec was dressed in its finest splendor, providing a postcard-worthy backdrop and dreamy weather conditions for the thousands of participants gathered for the 23rd edition of the Marathon Beneva de Quebec.

After an enforced break of two years due to the pandemic, nearly 8,000 runners attended and walked the starting lines of the Youth Race (2km), the 5km de la santé Beneva, the Sports Experts 10km, the Kyndryl 21.1km presented by WKND 91.9 FM and the Beneva 42.195k this weekend.

The course with departure and arrival at ExpoCité was very popular and could be used again for the 24th edition and the following ones.

Kenyan David Mutai, winner of the last marathon held in the capital in 2019, didn’t seem too shaken by the pandemic period as he easily won the Beneva de Québec marathon this Sunday in 2h24’21”, which is 74 seconds faster than during his last participation.

The 36-year-old athlete also finished third in last week’s Montreal marathon behind Ethiopian Gadisa Shumie and Moroccan Moussab Hadout.

He is ahead of Canadian Alexis Lavoie-Gilbert, who finishes in 2h27’09”. The podium is completed by another Canadian, Anthony Larouche, who crosses the finish line in 2h30’57”.

In the women’s category, Nadia Bolduc (2h57’57”) wins. She is ahead of her compatriots Joanie Charland, 2nd in 2h59’20” and Catherine Papillon, 3rd in 3h03’03”.
