The Dallas Stars have agreed the terms of a four-year deal with forward Jason Robertson, which will see him earn an average annual salary of $7.75 million.
The team made the announcement shortly after their 2-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche late Wednesday.
This is the end of a long standoff between the two camps. With no contract under his belt, the 23-year-old skater didn’t attend his family’s training camp. He will be able to take part in the first game of the Stars regular schedule on October 13 against the Nashville Predators.
“Jason is an integral part of our team’s present and future and we are delighted to have him on our team for the next four years,” General Manager Jim Nill said in a statement. Ever since he was drafted into our organization, he has worked tirelessly to become a better player every day.
“His goalscoring ability and his moves on the ice are just some of the tremendous assets he brings to our team. He’s one of the best young players in the NHL and we can’t wait to see him continue to grow.”
Last season, Robertson had 41 goals and 38 assists for 79 points in 74 games and led Dallas to a playoff berth.
The Texan franchise lost its first-round match against the Calgary Flames in seven games, in which the Californian scored four points.
After completing his first professional contract, he enjoyed partial autonomy.
