The Montreal Canadiens camp is about to unravel and Juraj Slafkovsky appears to be more comfortable with the North American style of play. The Slovakian offered what was probably his best performance of the preseason with multiple scoring chances on Monday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“After three games I feel the pace is slowing but I think I have to keep working hard,” he admitted after the 5-1 defeat.

The Slovak offered what was probably his best performance of the pre-season on Monday with several chances to score. In addition to an incredible chance to beat Matt Murray, who pulled the glove, the first overall winner of the final draft received an assist for Jonathan Drouin’s goal.
“You could say it’s my best performance but it’s far from the level I can play,” he added. I know I can play better. When I reach my next level, I can say I belong (in the NHL). Today it was closer to that level.”
All in all, Slafkovsky believes he’s getting a little closer to the goal. How is he going to achieve that?
“I don’t reveal my secrets on camera!” he started, causing many laughs from the crowd of journalists who surrounded him.
