The Hamilton Tiger-Cats accomplished a feat only seen by the Montreal Alouettes this season: they defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Ontario team jumped out in the second quarter with 24 points and won 48-31 at Tim Hortons Field on Sunday.
This victory allows the “Ti-Cats” (4-9) to come within two points of the Sparrows (5-7) and second place in the Canadian Football League’s Eastern Division, but the latter have a game more to contend with .
Quarterback Dane Evans contributed the most to the win, completing no fewer than five touchdown passes. He finished the game with 327 yards through the air and completed 25 of 32 stints.
Tim White was his favorite target. He scored two majors and caught six balls. Steven Dunbar, Kiondre Smith and David Ungerer also contributed six points for the hosts.
Behind the center of the Blue Bombers (12-2), Zach Collaros performed better. Despite having 342 yards, he often lacked precision and was the victim of two interceptions. Rasheed Bailey and Nic Demski were the recipients of his two touchdown passes.
