The story of Alexei Kolosov has generated a lot of buzz in recent months, and on Sunday night the young Philadelphia Flyers goaltender made his first start in the National Hockey League (NHL).
The 22-year-old was called up by the team on Saturday evening because the Pennsylvania club’s two goalkeepers, Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov, were having difficulties. According to his agent Dan Milstein, he will be the one at the net tonight.

Kolosov has yet to break through in the American League with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, but he has had good seasons in the KHL with the Minsk Dynamo. The Belarusian also expressed his desire to stay in his home country before being persuaded to return by general manager Daniel Brière.
Since he was unwell during his brief stay in North America at the end of the 2023-2024 season, he would have initially asked the Flyers to terminate his contract before changing his mind. He also threatened not to show up for training camp.
Brière certainly had to make some promises to Kolosov in order for him to stay, most notably by guaranteeing him an NHL audition. At 6-foot-1 and weighing 185 pounds, he will be one of the smallest goalies on the Bettman circuit.
It was Ersson who scored the goal in Saturday’s 7-5 win over the Minnesota Wild. The CH, for their part, defeated the St. Louis Blues 5-2 that same evening at the Bell Center.
It’s Cayden Primeau who will kick off this second game in two nights. He will be responsible for blocking the shots of the dangerous Matvei Michkov, who stands out with nine points in eight games.
Josh Anderson traveled to Philadelphia despite the foot injury he sustained in the third period against the Blues. Lucas Condotta also accompanied the team, as we remembered the day before.
