Cole Caufield clearly didn’t like a reporter’s question about his shoulder surgery Saturday night after the Montreal Canadiens lost to the New York Islanders.
The American striker, who has scored six goals in as many games, is hitting the mark this season. A media representative also asked him if he felt better compared to last season, when he scored 28 goals in 82 games.

“Do you feel more comfortable shooting the puck than you did last year? It seems like these tighter angle shots are coming in more often,” the journalist asked.
Caufield then simply replied, “No,” with a laugh, before adding, “That’s an absurd question.” [“That’s a crazy question”]”.
The journalist wanted to explain the shoulder operation that the winger had to undergo in 2023 and which may have affected his movements.
“Have you ever had one?” Caufield asked him quickly, to which his interlocutor simply replied, “No.”
Despite the sharpshooter’s brace, the Canadian suffered a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to the Islanders, their third in a row. Montreal will return to action on Tuesday against the Rangers at the Bell Centre.
