Two years to forget for Dvorak

There are unlucky people in life and there is Christian Dvorak, who is doubly unlucky.

The Canadiens forward missed 52 games last season due to a torn pectoral muscle that required surgery. He missed 18 games last season due to a knee injury that also required surgery. And in the 2021-22 season, he missed 26 games due to a lower-body injury and a concussion.

“The last two years have been difficult with major surgeries and long absences,” Dvorak admitted on Sunday. “The most important thing for me is to stay healthy.”

“I had a good summer and I’m going to do whatever I can to stay healthy and help the team. Whether it’s extra treatments or extra stretching, I’ll do whatever it takes and hope those little things help me stay healthy.”

Big piece

When healthy, Dvorak is a player who can contribute around forty points per season, which is not insignificant, and his teammates also believe that his absence last season was evident.

“He is an important part of the team, he adds a lot of depth and it will be good to have him healthy,” said Arber Xhekaj

“He is a very complete player in his style of play and we certainly missed him last year. He has great value for the team,” added Mike Matheson.

Additionally, Dvorak has a vested interest in staying healthy as this is his final year of contract and he will become a free agent at the end of the season.

“It’s something I’m not really thinking about, I just want to be there to help the team,” said the main person affected.

Good company

In training, Christian Dvorak will be paired with Kirby Dach, another seriously injured player from last season.

“Kirby is a big piece that we missed last year, he’s a very talented player. We spent a lot of time together last year. I think if we stay healthy, the team could cause a surprise.”

The trio is completed by Joshua Roy and Dvorak seemed delighted with the unity he forms with Roy and Dach.

“There’s a lot of talent in both of these guys, they offer a lot of different elements, so we need to complement each other. It’s still very early days, so we want to develop good chemistry over the course of the preseason.

Let’s also say a word about Josh Anderson, who has found his talent at the net in training. On Sunday he sent several good and accurate shots into the top corner.

“It looks very good,” says Christan Dvorak happily. “He scores often and it’s good for his confidence to score goals, even if it’s in training. He’s got it in him and I think he’ll get back on his feet.”
