Mattias Norlinder’s North American adventure seems to be coming to an end.
Became an unrestricted free agent on 1um After the Montreal Canadiens did not extend him a qualifying offer last July, the Swedish defender has still not managed to find a job with another team.
According to Swedish media Express Sports, The Modo club in the SHL would like to bring Norlinder back into their ranks for next season. With this training, the 24-year-old full-back started in the U18, U20 and then in the senior national team.
CH chose Norlinder in the third round of the 2019 selection meeting after he had a good first season in the second division (Allsvenskan).
He then wore the colors of the Frolunda Indians in the SHL before making the permanent move to Laval with the Rocket in 2022.
Last season, he nearly secured a spot with the Habs after a solid training camp, but was eventually demoted to the farm club, where he settled for a modest haul of nine points in 50 games.
