“That’s not me” – Filip Mesar

Montreal Canadiens junior player Filip Mesar assured on Tuesday that he is a good teammate and is quick to support young players. in an interview with a Slovak journalist from “Dennik Sport”.

Mesar attracted attention in late June when he claimed he was too strong for the Ontario Junior League and his Kitchener Rangers teammates, who could not keep up with his pace.

But this story is unfounded, assured the Habs’ first-round pick in 2022.

“People and players who know me understand that I am not like that, he hinted to journalist Tomas Prokop. I was the first person to help when younger teammates had difficulties.”

“You shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet,” added the 20-year-old athlete, who said last fall after a brief test with the Laval Rocket that he never had a problem being sent to the juniors by the CH.

“I saw it as motivation to prove that I have no place in the juniors,” he explained. This season was better than the last, although it can always be better.

Back on August 8

Mesar also announced that he will return to Canada on August 8.

“I was supposed to join the Canadiens in mid-August,” he said. “They called me and said they wanted me to come back early to prepare with the coaches before camp.”

He also said that the organization suggested that he not attend the team’s development camp earlier this month, but instead invited him to train at the gym, which he did.

Mesar would of course like to reach the NHL this year, but his first goal is to secure a permanent spot with the Rockets.

“I’m trying to work hard and do everything I can to get my chance in the American League,” he explained. “I’m not making the NHL a priority right now.”
