Netflix removes its cheapest plan in Canada

It’s been several months since the $9.99 basic plan was discontinued for new Netflix members, but those who had already benefited continuously from the basic plan were still eligible for it. That will change this month.

Several Netflix users in Canada, particularly on Reddit, have expressed that they have received messages about the end of their basic Netflix subscription.

“Your last day to watch Netflix is July 13. Choose a plan to keep watching. Your basic plan will be discontinued, but you can change plans. “Plans start at just $5.99 with advanced features,” it says.

Here are the new Netflix prices for Canadians:

  • Standard with advertising: CA$5.99/month
  • Default: CA$16.49/month (add an additional member for CA$7.99/month)
  • Bonus: CA$20.99/month (add an additional member for CA$7.99/month)

If you want to keep your Netflix account ad-free, you’ll have to choose between the CA$16.49 and CA$20.99 packages. However, if you canceled your basic Netflix subscription in the last few months, you probably already have a “new” plan.

Rest in peace, basic package for $9.99.
