If you think the players invited to the Canadiens’ development camp are just there to fill jerseys, Josh Nadeau will change your mind.

At 20 years old, he was the second-smallest player in this development camp, standing at 5-foot-7 and weighing 166 pounds, but that didn’t stop him from scoring three goals and adding an assist in Friday’s two simulated games.
“He stood out for his goals,” noted Francis Bouillon, who knows what it’s like to be invited to camp only to secure a position, was never drafted and is an inspiration to Nadeau.
“Francis, he’s a great example. It’s hard, but you have to get through it and prove to everyone what you can do,” said the New Brunswick native, who had received several invitations but preferred to accept the invitation from his childhood team.
He can’t attend camp this fall to avoid losing his NCAA eligibility, but it’s easy to assume the Canadian will keep an eye on him.

Nadeau has a very good center of gravity and is difficult to bring down despite his size. He is strong, the puck stays on his stick and he has very good vision of the game.
We better understand why he and his brother Bradly have been their team’s leading scorers over the past two seasons, two years ago with the Penticton Vees (Josh: 110 points, Bradly: 113 points) and last season with the Black Bears (Josh: 45 points, Bradly: 46 points).
Josh will return to Maine this fall, but Bradly will play in the American League or NHL after signing a three-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes last April. The Canes had selected him with the 30e First-round pick last year.
Opposite Josh Nadeau is American defender Matthew Biotti, who is almost 1.90 meters tall. He surprised everyone a little.
He is very agile for his size, shoots well off the shoulder, plays well in defense, can support the attack and has a good shot.
