Kaiden Guhle injured – TVA Sports

The day after Canada’s 3-2 penalty shootout loss to Switzerland in the semifinals of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Kaiden Guhle was conspicuous by his absence from the bronze medal game against Sweden on Sunday morning.

It would have been odd if André Tourigny had decided to leave Guhle out after using him for nearly 20 minutes the day before, but the Montreal Canadiens defenseman actually injured himself while blocking a shot in the semifinals, as TSN’s Gord Miller reports.

Tourigny therefore opted for a formation with 14 attackers and six defenders, with Ridly replacing Greig Guhle, who finished the tournament with five points, including one goal, in nine games.

Canada’s pilot made controversial decisions against Switzerland. He benched Connor Bedard in overtime after briefly using him on a power play and sent two defensemen into a shootout.

Bedard was still the 13th forward in Canada’s lineup on Sunday.
