Recall of certain eggs that may be contaminated with salmonella in Saskatchewan

A recall has been issued in Saskatchewan for certain eggs that may have been contaminated with salmonella.

Health Canada said in a statement released Saturday that the test results led to the recall of eggs that carried any of the codes listed on a list posted on its website. (New window)

The agency notes that the recall affects certain Compliments, Harman, Unnamed and others Star eggbut only those who carry one of these codes are affected.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says it has opened an investigation and warns more recalls could be initiated. She recommends throwing out recalled eggs or returning them to the store where they were purchased.

Health Canada says this is not the case for foods contaminated with Salmonella do not necessarily show any visible changes or suspicious smells.

Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems can get serious and sometimes fatal infections.
