Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau will be sent to net against the Flyers on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Primeau, 24, admits it was a special game for him since he grew up in Philadelphia, where his father Keith played.
“It's special every time we play a game in the NHL, but returning to where the dream began is even more special for me,” admitted the young goaltender. This is the team I followed as a kid. It’s also special to be able to play in front of friends and family.”
Cayden was born in the summer of 1999 and was less than six months old when his father was traded from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Flyers on January 23, 2000 in exchange for Rod Brind'Amour and goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier.
Looking to his own future, Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes recently suggested that the team's three-way line in front of the net might as well continue until the end of this season.
“I’m in the NHL, I can’t complain,” Primeau responded. Like I said, of course you want to play as much as possible, but I’m taking it day by day and I’ll be ready when my name is called.”
Harvey-Pinard will have to wait
Aside from the goalie, no other changes are planned in the Canadian's lineup compared to the lineup in uniform in the recent win against the New York Rangers last Saturday in Montreal.
Even though he has been training with his teammates since the beginning of the week, Quebec striker Rafaël Harvey-Pinard still has to wait a while before he returns to action.
Harvey-Pinard has been out since mid-November with a lower-body injury.
Before he was on the sidelines, the Quebecer had collected four assists in 13 games. He will be looking for his first goal of the season on his return to action after impressing with 14 goals in 34 games last season.
