Despite taking a 1-0 lead at the start of the first period, the Quebec Remparts were soundly beaten 6-2 by the Victoriaville Tigres on Sunday at the Colisée Desjardins.

The local favorite scored five unanswered goals between the middle of the first and second periods, including two within 1:05 thanks to Justin Gendron and Egor Goriunov. Justin Larose, Francesco Iasenza, Emerick Bussières and Nikita Prishchepov were the Tigres’ other scorers.

On the Remparts side, Simon Maltais got the ball rolling by lighting the red light for the first time in the campaign. The defenseman took advantage of a return shot from Leytown Stewart to put the puck into Nathan Darveau’s goal.

Andrew Geon also caused a stir in the final moments of the second round.

Quebec goaltender Quentin Miller has been excellent since the start of the regular season and didn’t have an easy end to the afternoon in Victoriaville. The Montreal Canadiens junior was hit five times on 21 shots. He spent just 33 minutes and 35 seconds on the ice before being sent off in favor of Louis-Antoine Denault.

Eric Veilleux’s players will be annoyed that they weren’t able to take advantage of their numerical advantages during the game. The Tigers, for their part, scored once in four attempts under these circumstances.

The Remparts now have a record of 10-15-0-0 and are in last place in the Eastern Association. They will host the Charlottetown Islanders on December 2nd at the Videotron Center.
