Rogers Communications announced Friday that it has activated cellular service for its customers in all subway stations in Toronto, as well as in the tunnels between Sheppard West and Vaughan Metropolitan Center stations.
The move comes as the company continues to build 5G infrastructure for the entire subway tunnel network – a process expected to take two years, the company estimated when announcing its plans in April.
Last month, customers of rival operators Bell Canada and Telus gained access to cellular service in the busiest sections of the Toronto subway after Rogers activated its expanded network for the first time in stations and tunnels across Toronto’s subway system Customers.

Rogers did not specify in its announcement Friday when Bell and Telus customers can expect service on the rest of its activated network.
The companies have a deadline of December 20 to negotiate commercial agreements to provide long-term subway services.
