The Alouettes surprised the entire country by defeating the powerful Toronto Argonauts in the Eastern final on Saturday.
This gave the Montrealers the chance to play against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 110th Gray Cup next Sunday in Hamilton. After dominating the best team in the Canadian league against all odds this season, the Alouettes shouldn’t take the Western representatives lightly.
Assistant coach and special teams coordinator Byron Archambault listed the pitfalls to avoid in an interview on Monday’s “JiC” on TVA Sports.
“The first trap is to be amazed at everything that happens. This is new for us as the Blue Bombers are participating in the Gray Cup for the fourth year in a row, so they are used to it and know the routine during the week. You have to reach 100 miles per hour. You must not allow yourself to be distracted. “We have already spoken to the players about it,” said the former University of Montreal Carabins.
Archambault admits that “there is still a lot to do” but approaches the finale with great optimism.
“The boys are convinced. We have seen great progress in terms of dynamics and learning in the last few weeks. We went into the series with 100% confidence. The boys believe it.”
