Leaving Montreal hasn’t revitalized the careers of Jonathan Drouin and Mike Hoffman so far this season.
The two former Canadiens forwards are neutral and each have a poor pass.
Hoffman, who played eight games, one more than Drouin, played on the Sharks’ third line Friday night along with Jacob Peterson and Filip Zadina. The California team, currently the worst in the NHL, lost 3-0 to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Times are very tough in San Jose. David Quinn’s side scored just eight goals in eight games and picked up just one point in the standings.
The Avalanche started the season strong with six wins and one loss, but this was not reflected in the performance of Drouin, who most recently played on the third offensive unit with Miles Wood and Ross Colton.
The Denver team offered the Quebecer a one-year contract in the hope that he would have fun with his former Halifax Mooseheads colleague Nathan MacKinnon, but the latter is instead flanked by Artturi Lehkonen and Valeri Nichushkin on current schedules.
Hoffman and Drouin left the Canadiens last summer under different circumstances. The first was traded to the Sharks as part of the three-team transfer, sending Erik Karlsson to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Drouin, for his part, became an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
