The Société québécoise du Cannabis (SQDC) announced Monday the appointment of Suzanne Bergeron as president and CEO. She will take office on November 27th.
MMe Specifically, Bergeron worked for 18 years at Sodexo, a global food services and facilities and equipment management company, where she held the positions of President of Canadian Operations and Global Director of Talent Management.
The SQDC highlighted Mr.’s 20 years of experience.Me Bergeron in the areas of strategic management, talent development and strategic executive succession planning.
The SQDC has been led on an interim basis since June by its vice president for finance, Robert Dalcourt. He took over the management of the state-owned company after the state-owned company’s former CEO, Jacques Farcy, was appointed to the same position at the Société des alcohols du Québec (SAQ).
When releasing its most recent quarterly results in September, the cannabis retailer recalled that employees at 24 of its stores, representing about a quarter of its workforce, were still on strike. These facilities will remain open, but their hours will be shortened.
The labor dispute, pitting the company against employees of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), began in May 2022. Negotiations are taking place between the two parties with the chief arbitrator of the Ministry of Labor, the SQDC stated last month.
