A veteran from Quebec was named captain of the Rocket

The Laval Rocket named the fourth captain in their history on Monday, and it was Quebecer Gabriel Bourque who was given the responsibility of leading the Montreal Canadiens’ farm club.

The 33-year-old striker will play his third season in Laval. He wore the ā€œCā€ on his jersey at the end of last season when Alex Belzile was recalled by the big club.

In two seasons, Bourque collected 60 points, including 25 goals, in 133 games. He also played over 400 games in the National Hockey League with the Nashville Predators, Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets.

Forwards Mitchell Stephens and Lucas Condotta and defenseman Tobie Paquette-Bisson will be his assistants in 2022-2023.

Before Bourque, Belzile (2022-2023), Xavier Ouellet (2019-2022) and Byron Froese (2017-2019) held the same roles with the Rocket.
