NHL: Deslauriers scorer in Flyers win

Former Montreal Canadiens Nicolas Deslauriers stood out offensively in the Philadelphia Flyers’ 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday.

After a throw from defenseman Travis Sanheim, Garnet Hathaway picked up the rebound to pass the puck to Deslauriers. The latter didn’t miss the opportunity to put the puck into Seymon Varlamov’s net. See above.

A first for Tyler Bertuzzi

In a close but lively game, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 at Scotiabank Arena. Tyler Bertuzzi, the club’s summer signing, scored his first goal with the Leafs.

Hendrix Lapierre is attracting attention from the Capitals

Quebec junior Hendrix Lapierre scored his first goal of the preseason with the Washington Capitals in his team’s 4-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Stefan Matteau, who already wore the Habs jersey in the 2015-2016 season, also took part in the encounter for Columbus. He collected one assist in 12 minutes and 20 seconds of play.

Hoffman scores for the first time with the Sharks

Mike Hoffman, the former Bleu Blanc Rouge who was sent to the San Jose Sharks in the summer, scored his first goal with the Californian club in his team’s 4-3 overtime loss to Los Kings Angeles. Note that Kings newcomer Pierre-Luc Dubois also scored.

Connor Bedard cleared against the Wild

The Chicago Blackhawks lost 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild in a shootout at the United Center. For the first time in the preseason calendar, young prodigy Connor Bedard was ruled out and was also stopped by Wild goaltender Marc-André Fleury in his shootout attempt.
